Emma Acker

Curator Of American Art at The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco

Emma Acker is an accomplished art historian with extensive experience in curatorial roles at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, where Acker has served as Curator of American Art, Associate Curator, Assistant Curator, and Curatorial Assistant since September 2008. Prior experience includes the position of Academic Year Intern in the Museum Profession and Curatorial Assistant at The National Gallery from September 2004 to September 2008, where Acker was awarded the Robert H. Smith Fellowship and a Research Grant from the English Speaking Union in 2007. Acker's early career includes a role as a Research Assistant at the Getty Research Institute from February 2003 to July 2004. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History at the University of St Andrews, Acker also holds an MA in Art History from the University of Southern California and a BA in Comparative Literature and French from Brown University. Notable achievements include receiving the Wilhelmina Barnes Graham Research Support Grant from the Paul Mellon Centre for British Studies in 2010.
