Karen Myrie has a diverse work experience in various medical and healthcare roles. Karen started their career as the Director of School Health at Lutheran Medical Center, where they managed the operations of a school-based health center network. Karen then served as the Director of Health Services at SACFS, overseeing the clinical and administrative management of integrated health services. Karen later worked as an Attending Pediatrician at Children's Aid Society and ACS Children's Center. Karen also held the position of Medical Director at Acacia Network, where they provided leadership and direction. Currently, Karen is working as a Medical Director at The Floating Hospital, responsible for overseeing medical, dental, and specialty care for incarcerated adolescents. Karen also works as an Attending Pediatrician at Opear.
Karen Myrie has a diverse educational background. Karen completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language/Pre-med at New York University from 1984 to 1988. Karen then pursued their medical degree, MD, at SUNY-Downstate College of Medicine, where they studied from 1990 to 1994. In 1997 to 1998, Karen attended Columbia University School of Public Health, earning a Master's in Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Health Promotion & Disease Prevention. Recently, in 2020, they obtained a certificate from eCornell at Cornell University in the Program for Executive Women in Leadership. Moreover, Karen Myrie holds a certification as an M/WBE Certified Vendor, obtained from the NYC Department of Small Business Services in May 2020.
