Rita Florez

Rita Florez is an accomplished legal professional and freelance writer with extensive experience in both fields. Currently serving as Bar Counsel at The Florida Bar since March 2019, Rita also has a robust freelance writing and copy editing career that began in September 2007, contributing to notable publications such as Pacific Standard and Bitch Media. Prior legal roles include working as an attorney at ANGEL F. LEAL, JR., P.A., and as an Assistant Public Defender in Missouri, alongside valuable internships in various public defender offices. Rita holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Florida Southern College.
