The Gathering Place
Fatimah Totten is an experienced professional with a background in housing case management and volunteer coordination. Currently serving as a Housing Case Manager at The Gathering Place since September 2021, Fatimah has also been a member of 100 Black Men of Chicago since January 2018. Previous roles include Administrative Coordinator and AmeriCorps VISTA at Hesed House, focusing on volunteer programs and expanding capacity for a family shelter, and Data Coordinator at Digital Transactions. Fatimah has also worked in annual giving at Benedictine University and as an Office Coordinator at The Hire Solution. Fatimah holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics from Benedictine University, earned between 2017 and 2020.

The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place (TGP) offers services to combat poverty and address the impacts of marginalization and oppression that are often contributing factors to poverty or homelessness. By offering low-barrier access to a broad range of basic necessities and wrap-around care options, TGP guides women, transgender folx and children living in poverty from a place of crisis and instability to one of stability and security. MISSION We are a community of safety and hope where positive relationships, choice, and essential resources transform lives. GUIDING PRINCIPLES We serve women, children, and transgender individuals who are experiencing poverty or homelessness. We believe in hope as an important change agent and hold that hope for everyone. We believe deeply in the power of community and continue working to develop it.
