Bruce Friedrich

President & Founder at The Good Food Institute

Bruce Friedrich is the Founder & CEO of The Good Food Institute, a non-profit dedicated to accelerating the plant-based and cellular agriculture industries. Bruce has dedicated their career to promoting veganism and improving the lives of animals.

Bruce began their work in animal advocacy as the Director of Policy at Farm Sanctuary, where they oversaw all legislative, regulatory, and litigation work. Bruce then taught English and government to 10th and 11th graders in inner-city Baltimore as part of Teach for America. Bruce was named "Teacher of the Year" for their school and awarded “Recognition of Excellence” for perfect score (200/200) on Praxis II English teacher proficiency exam.

In 1996, Bruce joined People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) as Vice President of International Grassroots Campaigns, where they helped PETA grow into the largest animal rights organization in the world. During their 13 years at PETA, Bruce led groundbreaking campaigns that resulted in major corporations adopting policies to reduce animal suffering, including McDonald's, Kraft Foods, and Procter & Gamble. Bruce also played a pivotal role in passage of state and local laws to protect animals, including bans on gestation crates for pigs and veal crates for calves.

In 2009, Bruce left PETA to launch The Good Food Institute, which promotes plant-based and cellular agriculture as alternatives to animal products. The Good Food Institute has grown rapidly under Bruce's leadership, with offices in the United States, Europe, Israel, India, APAC, and Brazil. Under Bruce's guidance, The

Bruce Friedrich has a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, an M.A. in Education from The Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in economics, English, and religion from Grinnell College. Bruce also took some general courses in economics at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
