Jerry Keir

Executive Director at The Great Basin Institute

Jerry Keir is the current Executive Director at The Great Basin Institute. Jerry has had a long and varied career in environmental research, starting as a Research Coordinator at Earthwatch Institute from January 2003 to December 2007. There, they were responsible for inventory, monitoring, and assessment of coastal ecosystems. Jerry then moved on to The Great Basin Institute, before taking up a position as Assistant Professor at Universidad de Guanajuato from January 1994 to December 1996. Next, they were an Instructor with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) from January 1992 to December 1993. Most recently, they have been Executive Director at The Great Basin Institute since January 2008. In this role, they are responsible for leading the organization in its mission to protect and restore the environment through research, education, and service.

Jerry Keir graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts - BA. Jerry then went on to complete a Master's degree - MA at Texas State University. After that, they completed a Semester Abroad at the University of London. Finally, they became a Doctoral Fellow at the University of Nevada, Reno.
