Christopher Schaffner has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Starting in 1997 as a Senior Corporate Engineer at RG Vanderweil, they later became an Associate at Arup in 2001. In 2005, they founded The Green Engineer, Inc., where they held the position of CEO and Founder.

Throughout their career, Christopher has been involved with various organizations and committees. Christopher has served as a Member of the MA Zero Net Energy Building Task Force, Chair of the Education Committee at USGBC Massachusetts Chapter, and Board Member at USGBC Massachusetts Chapter.

Additionally, Christopher has been actively engaged with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), serving as a Member of LEED Faculty, Chair of the LEED Steering Committee, and Member of the Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group, among other leadership positions. Christopher has also been an Instructor for USGBC LEED Workshops for almost 10,000 professionals.

Christopher's expertise extends beyond the USGBC, as they have also taken on roles at the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) as an Air Concept Advisory Member. Furthermore, they have taught as an Adjunct Faculty at the Boston Architectural College and served as a Part-Time Lecturer in Sustainable Building Systems at Northeastern University since 2015.

Christopher Schaffner attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1981 to 1988, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, they obtained certifications such as Living Future Accreditation from the International Living Future Institute in September 2023, and the WELL Accredited Professional certification from Green Business Certification, Inc. in November 2015.
