Vanessa Fischer

Vanessa Fischer, M.A., LPC has a diverse range of work experience in the mental health field. Vanessa began their career as a Master's Level Group Therapy Student Intern at The Cooper Foundation in 2013. Following this, they worked as an LPC Intern and Master's Level Student Intern at Family Time Crisis and Counseling Center from April 2013 to May 2016. In this role, they provided counseling services to individuals, children, couples, and families, as well as victims of criminal activity. Vanessa also facilitated the Divorce: Putting the Children First class.

In 2014, Vanessa joined Lone Star Behavioral Health as a Program Therapist, where they conducted group, individual, and family therapy sessions for patients with acute and persistent mental illness. Vanessa utilized various therapeutic techniques, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person Center Therapy, and expressive art therapy. Vanessa also provided crisis intervention to patients experiencing suicidal and/or homicidal ideations. In December 2015, they were promoted to Lead Therapist, supervising a therapy team and managing patient care for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.

Since 2016, Vanessa has been working at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD. Vanessa began as an LPHA on the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team, where they provided crisis interventions and assessments, short-term solution focused therapeutic techniques, and psychoeducation on mental health and mental illness. In April 2018, they were promoted to the role of Clinical Team Lead.

Vanessa Fischer, M.A., LPC, holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University, where they studied from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, where they attended from 2008 to 2011.
