Caitlin Barrand

Research Manager (REAL Centre) at The Health Foundation

Caitlin Barrand has a diverse work experience spanning from 2001 to the present. Caitlin currently holds the position of Research Manager (REAL Centre) at The Health Foundation since May 2020. Prior to this role, they worked as an Associate Director and Head of Health and Social Care at Traverse from January 2017 to April 2020. Caitlin also worked at Breast Cancer Now, where they held various roles including Assistant Director Policy & Campaigns, Head of Policy & Campaigns, Senior Manager, Policy Insight, Acting Assistant Head of Policy, Policy Manager, and Senior Policy Officer (Genetics) between 2007 and 2015. Caitlin had a secondment at the UK Department of Health with the Cancer Policy Team from October 2010 to January 2011. Caitlin started their career as an intern at Newton's Apple (Science Policy Think-Tank) in 2007 and also worked as a Teaching Consultant at Harvard University's Bok Center for Teaching and Learning from September 2003 to December 2006. Caitlin has also gained experience as an intern at the U.S. House of Representatives and as a Research Assistant at the University of Salzburg.

Caitlin Barrand attended Haverford College from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a BA degree in Biology. Later, they pursued their education at Harvard University, where they completed a Masters in Molecular Biology (Genetics) from 2002 to 2003. Caitlin continued their studies at Harvard and obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology, specifically in Genetics, from 2003 to 2006.
