Alan joined the company as an assistant management accountant in 1970, and was promoted to credit manager then financial accountant before moving to the position of group chief accountant in 1978. In 1983 he became the finance director, managing director in 1992 and then chairman of the company in 2008. Alan is also the current Chairman of the Mineral Products Association’s South West Region.

Hills is a privately owned family company which was founded in 1900. It is a regional business based in Wiltshire but with operations in the surrounding counties. Its principal activities are recycling and waste management, quarrying of aggregates and production of ready-mixed concrete, and building new homes.
