Richard McPhail

EVP, CFO at The Home Depot

Richard McPhail is chief financial officer and executive vice president of The Home Depot. He is responsible for all aspects of the Finance organization, including financial reporting and operations, financial planning and analysis, internal audit, investor relations, treasury and tax.

Since joining the Company in 2005, Richard has held a number of roles of increasing responsibility within the Finance organization including director of Strategic Business Development, vice president of Strategic Business Development, and senior vice president of Finance.

In his most recent role as senior vice president of Finance, Richard led the evolution of the Company’s strategic and financial planning processes, created the decision analytics center of excellence and guided the Company’s day-to-day performance versus plan. He also oversaw business development activity, contributing to the Company’s sales growth and productivity.

Previously, Richard was with Marconi Corporation plc in London, England, where he served as executive vice president of corporate finance, leading their business development efforts in Europe and North America. Prior to Marconi, Richard held positions with Wachovia Securities and with Arthur Andersen.

Richard serves on the board of directors for Odyssey Atlanta and Zoo Atlanta. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and in business management from North Carolina State University, and a master’s degree in business administration from Duke University.
