Sean Banks is a Program Manager with a passion for bringing equity to education and closing the opportunity gap. In his most recent professional years, Sean has worked to support New York City teachers and principals through the Gray Fellowship for Principal Excellence and the Robin Hood Computational Thinking project at the Hunter College School of Education. Where he supported the coaching and development of administrators and teachers through the introduction and refinement of computational thinking, mindfulness, and transformative practices. He will continue to strive toward creating more equitable education opportunities for future generations by serving as the Educator Diversity Program Manager.
In this role, Sean will guide The Hunt Institute’s work on the One Million Teachers of Color initiative, which aims to grow the number of teachers of color by 1 million by 2030, as well as boost school leaders of color by 30 thousand. He will support a coalition of partners to help operationalize goals and create structures necessary for coordination and decision making. In addition, Sean will support other Institute work, including conducting research and analysis on relevant policy issues and providing information for reports, policy briefs, primers, and case studies for dissemination.
