Mu Wang

Mu Wang has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Mu began their career as a CRM Consultant at Vanceinfo, where they worked on various CRM implementations for clients such as Motorola, China Telecom, Roche Pharma, Panasonic, and Spirit Telecom. They handled tasks such as data modeling, business logic, workflow, integration, ETL, GUI, reporting, and post go-live production support.

Mu then joined Motorola / Vanceinfo as a Business Intelligence Developer, focusing on OBIEE reports and Informatica ETLs. They were responsible for designing and developing ETL processes and reporting dashboards, utilizing Shell scripts, Windows Batch scripts, SQL, and Oracle Stored Procedures.

After that, Mu worked at IBM as an Application Support Team Lead before joining Arq Group as a Senior BI Developer & Data Analyst. Their responsibilities included participating in budgeting and forecasting processes, designing and implementing Melbourne IT's first data warehouse, financial data modeling, data analysis, data integration, and more.

Mu also worked as a Tableau Consultant for a short engagement with AFL, covering the full life cycle of Tableau dashboard development and performing SQL performance optimization in their cloud-based data warehouse.

At NAB, Mu served as a Senior Data Scientist, and at ME Bank, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer on projects related to upsell/cross-sell propensity modeling, revenue reporting, customer churn models, model explainability, and data processing/ML model training pipelines.

In their most recent role as Head of Data Science at Arq Group, Mu led the Data Science professional service practice nationally. They supervised client delivery projects and focused on tech and thought leadership by building capabilities, accelerators, and service offerings.

Mu's work experience also includes various miscellaneous projects at Arq Group, such as address matching, developing a COVID Safe computer vision solution, and creating a COPI risk policy auditing application.

Currently, Mu Wang holds the position of Data Science Lead at THE ICONIC.

Mu Wang attended Central South University from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance. In addition to their degree, Mu Wang also obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in April 2018.
