Managing Director And Head Of Sustainable Finance at Institute of International Finance

Sonja Gibbs, CFA has a strong background in finance and policy. Sonja worked at the Institute of International Finance from 2008 to the present, with roles including Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Finance, Managing Director of Global Policy Initiatives, and Senior Director of Global Capital Markets. Prior to their time at the IIF, they held positions at Nomura International plc as Chief Equity Strategist from 1996 to 2002, and at IBJ International as a Senior Economist from 1995 to 1996.

Sonja Gibbs, CFA has an MBA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, which they earned from 1988 to 1990. Prior to that, they obtained a B.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Berkeley, from 1983 to 1985. Sonja also attended Pomona College from 1979 to 1981, where they studied Political Science and Government. Sonja Gibbs has also obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification from AIMR.
