Annie Ryu started their work experience in 2009 as a Health Policy Analyst and Nicaragua Field Investigator for the Multi-Country Study of Prevention of HIV MTCT at Harvard Medical School. In 2010, they became a Co-founder, Co-CEO, and CSO at Remindavax --> Wellapets / LifeGuard Games, Inc. Annie also joined Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an Honorary Legatum Fellow at the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship. In 2011, Annie founded jack & annie's, a company specializing in whole-plant meats made from jackfruit, and also took on the role of CEO and Founder at The Jackfruit Company. Annie became a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University in 2013 and served as the Vice President and Violinist for the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra. Annie was also a Principal Investigator for Medical Anthropology Research at Harvard University. In 2019, they joined Unreasonable as an Unreasonable Fellow. Additionally, Annie was involved in various humanitarian and social impact initiatives, such as leading aid distribution efforts in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as the Associate Director of Children of the Border.

Annie Ryu attended Harvard University from 2009 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Social Anthropology.
