Joseph Dubois

Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at The James B. Oswald Company

Prior to joining Oswald in 2008 as its Chief Financial Officer, DuBois spent 18 years at Nationwide Insurance in various underwriting and financial leadership roles, most recently as the Chief Financial Officer of the Specialty Products Division. During his career he has overseen in-excess of 40 insurance agency/brokerage acquisitions, along with the back-end integration of many of these opportunities.

In addition to his financial management responsibilities, DuBois oversees operational processing, corporate administration, legal and compliance, and he spends much of his time in the execution of Oswald’s strategic plan and its mergers and acquisition agenda. He is responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting, and has oversight of various financial analysis including performance benchmarking, valuation and general evaluation of merger and acquisition targets, and the development of all financial information required for Unison’s annual valuation process. He oversees all treasury activities optimizing cash flows to grow and invest in on-going business opportunities, and ensures companywide compliance with all insurance regulatory requirements.

DuBois is a certified public accountant (inactive) and an active member of both the AICPA and the Ohio Society of CPAs. He currently sits on the board of Vocational Guidance Services, having served as its Chair from 2018 thru March 2021, and previously as Chair of its Finance/Audit Committee. He also serves as a board member and investment committee chair of Notre Dame Schools and is a member of the St. Helen Church finance committee. DuBois is also a Leadership Cleveland Alumni and former board member of Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland.

DuBois is a graduate of Iowa State University, Ivy College of Business, with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
