Larry Vales has a diverse work experience, with roles in various organizations. Larry started as an Account Specialist at Prudential Healthcare in 1996, where they managed client enrollment and carrier transition processes. Larry then worked as a Benefits Administrator at Barclays Global Investors, administering a global benefits program. Larry joined the American Conservatory Theater, first as an HR/Finance Associate, and later as the Associate General Manager. At the theater, they managed operations, communication, and employee evaluation programs. Larry then transitioned to the North Carolina Office of State Personnel, where they served as an HR Partner and HR Consultant, providing consultation and support in various HR areas. Larry moved on to the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer, where they held roles such as Assistant Director, Interim Director, and Director of Human Resources. Most recently, Larry worked as the Manager of Recruitment and Staffing at the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources. In 2014, they joined The James Irvine Foundation as the Director of Talent.

Larry Vales obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English - Drama from San Diego State University between the years 1992 and 1996. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Drama at ABT - San Francisco State University from 1996 to 1999.
