Alan Ravitz

Chief Engineer National Health Mission Area at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory

Alan Ravitz has extensive work experience in the field of health and biomedical engineering. Alan is currently the Chief Engineer for the National Health Mission Area at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where they lead projects focused on revolutionizing health through science and engineering. Prior to this role, they served as a Program Area Manager and Program Manager, overseeing various biomedical systems projects. Alan also worked as an Assistant Program Area Manager and Project Manager at the same institution. In addition, they are actively involved in the academic field as the Program Chair for Healthcare Systems Engineering at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering.

Alan Ravitz obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in 1987. Alan then went on to earn a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami in 1989. Alan later pursued a Master of Science degree in Technical Management from The Johns Hopkins University, which they completed in 2004. In 2016, they received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University. Additionally, Alan Ravitz has obtained several certifications including Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) from INCOSE in 2010, and a Professional Engineer License (Electrical) from the Maryland Department of Labor. Alan also holds the FE/EIT certification from the Maryland DLLR.
