Martin Brusis currently serves as a Research Manager at the University of Würzburg, a position held since August 2023. Prior to this, Martin worked as a Researcher at the German Youth Research Institute from January 2021 to February 2023 and as a Senior Programme Manager at International IDEA from December 2018 to January 2021. Martin has also held academic roles, including Associate Professor at Babes-Bolyai University (October 2016 - November 2018) and Visiting Professor at the University of Heidelberg (2009 - 2010), where the role focused on Comparative Government. Additionally, Martin was Managing Director at the KomPost research network at the University of Munich from 2010 to 2015 and a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Applied Policy Research at the University of Munich from 1995 to 2009. Early in the career, Martin conducted empirical research on core executives and budgeting processes in East-Central European countries at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (1999 - 2001). Martin holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Sociology from Freie Universität Berlin, completed between 1988 and 1994.
