Daniel Cano

Strategic Communications & Equity Frameworks Consultant at The Justice Collective

Daniel Cano is an experienced professional with a diverse work history. Daniel began their career in 2014 as a Peer Academic Advisor at UC Irvine School of Social Sciences and also served as a Resident Advisor at UC Irvine Arroyo Vista during that time. In 2015, they interned at the U.S. Department of Education's White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

From 2016 to 2017, Daniel worked as a Health Policy Fellow at The Greenlining Institute. In 2017, they joined the University of California Student Association as the Director of Policy & Research, where they managed programs, conducted research, and advocated for UC students. In 2019, they became a Program Specialist/Student Services Advisor II at UC Irvine's Student Outreach & Retention Center, where they provided mentorship and facilitated workshops for undergraduates.

Daniel was also a Fellow and Alumni of Young People For, a national leadership development program, from 2017 to 2020. Additionally, they worked as a Strategic Communications & Equity Frameworks Consultant at The Justice Collective in 2021. Most recently, they served as a District Substitute Teacher and ELOP Teacher at Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District in 2022. Throughout their career, Daniel has demonstrated a commitment to social justice and empowering marginalized communities.

Daniel Cano attended UC Irvine from 2011 to 2016, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Policy and Public Service, with a focus on Psychology and Social Behavior. Prior to their college education, they completed their high school education at Gahr High School.
