Luca Martins

Luca Martins is an accomplished aquaculture researcher with a robust background in animal sciences. Currently serving at HZ University of Applied Sciences since March 2024, Luca previously held roles as Senior Production Biologist and Production Biologist at The Kingfish Company from January 2022 to February 2024. A strong foundation in aquaculture was established through experiences as a Student Aquaculture Researcher at Maltento, where responsibilities included trial design, data analysis, and disease management for tilapia species, as well as practical initiatives at Welgevallen Experimental Farm Stellenbosch University focusing on sustainable aquaculture systems. Luca also gained experience as a Student Intern at Abagold Limited, contributing to hatchery operations and processing facilities. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Stellenbosch University.
