The Ladder Alliance

The Ladder Alliance provides women victims of domestic violence and low-income women with the tools to lead self-reliant, independent and successful lives. Training in computer skills is offered to equip participants with the skills necessary to compete in today’s technological job market. Class Offerings The Ladder Alliance offers two distinct programs. 1. Basic Computer Skills Training, an 80-hour program, provides participants with entry level computer skills including keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and Internet usage. 2. Professional Office Skills Training (POST), is a 16 week, 400-hour program designed to equip participants with more sophisticated skills. Advanced computer skills, business communication, and customer service are some of the topics covered. Child Care Child care is provided for evening classes only. Healthy snacks are provided morning, afternoon and evening for participants and their children. These services eliminate some of the known barriers for low-income women seeking additional education. Transportation The Ladder Alliance is located at One Safe Place, a National Family Justice Center, at the corner of Hemphill and Rosedale in Fort Worth. The facility is easily reached from different city locations utilizing the bus system. Assistance is available to those women who cannot afford bus passes. Success Store Women entering or re-entering the workforce often do not own appropriate clothing for interviews or office wear. To address this barrier, program participants have access to business-appropriate clothing at the on-site “Success Store.” Participants earn vouchers to use in the store by being punctual and attending class. The Success Store is outfitted with more than 1,000 pieces of clothing and includes all sizes.
