Janis Wong is a Policy Advisor specializing in Data and Technology Law at The Law Society since August 2023, focusing on regulatory changes and advocacy for access to justice. Wong is a member of the Data Ethics Steering Group at The RED Foundation, tasked with creating a new data ethics policy for the real estate sector. As a Trustee for Economic Lead, Wong supports research addressing challenges faced by minority ethnic and marginalized communities. Previous roles include a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Alan Turing Institute, where research focused on data protection and ethics, and a Research Fellow at the Open Data Institute, exploring governance in educational technology. Wong has also completed research sprints at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and held positions in student support and engagement at the University of St Andrews and the Scottish Parliament. Academic qualifications include a PhD and an MS from the University of St Andrews, along with an LLB from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
