Ellen van Cleave

Ellen Van Cleave is an experienced attorney specializing in child advocacy, currently serving as Attorney for the Child at The Legal Aid Society of Rochester, New York since November 2019. Previously, Ellen held the position of Staff Attorney at The Legal Aid Society of NYC from September 2016 to April 2019. Prior legal experience includes internships at the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights and the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in 2015 and 2014, respectively. Additionally, Ellen contributed to global education initiatives as a Girls Education and Empowerment Volunteer with the Peace Corps from September 2010 to September 2012. Ellen holds a Juris Doctor degree with a concentration in International Law from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from The George Washington University.
