Tina Luongo

Chief Attorney, Criminal Defense Practice at The Legal Aid Society

Tina Luongo has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Tina currently serves as the Chair for the Criminal Justice Section-ABA since 2023. Prior to this, they held various positions at The Legal Aid Society, starting as a Staff Attorney in 2002 and eventually becoming Chief Attorney, Criminal Defense Practice in 2015. Tina also served as the Attorney in Charge, Criminal Practice at The Legal Aid Society of New York from 2014 to 2022. Before their work at The Legal Aid Society, Tina held the role of Vice President of Operations at Council for Unity, Inc from 1991 to 2002.

Tina Luongo obtained a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Brooklyn Law School in 2002. Prior to that, they earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Hofstra University in 1996. Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy from Brooklyn College. In 2021, they obtained a certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Institute for Nonprofit Practice.
