Lawrence Bartley

Lawrence Bartley is an experienced professional in journalism and advocacy for incarcerated individuals. Currently serving as the Publisher of The Marshall Project Inside since July 2018, Lawrence oversees publications aimed at both the incarcerated audience and the general public. Previously, as Director of News Inside at The Marshall Project, Lawrence developed a unique publication platform that highlighted award-winning journalism and fostered dialogue around reform through the representation of incarcerated lives. From September 2009 to January 2018, Lawrence held the role of Director of News Inside for the Inmate Liaison Committee, where strong communication skills were utilized to negotiate concessions and privileges, establishing Lawrence as a leader in the prison environment. Lawrence holds a Master’s degree in Professional Studies from New York Theological Seminary, completed in 2014.
