Sarah Townley has a strong background in the medical field, with their work experience spanning over several years. Sarah began their career as a General Practitioner at Thornton Medical Centre from August 2006 to November 2009. Sarah then joined the Medical Protection Society in November 2009 as a Medicolegal Advisor, where they provided expert advice on legal matters within the medical field. In June 2018, Sarah was promoted to Medicolegal Consultant Team Leader, leading a team of consultants. From January 2020, they took on the role of Underwriting Policy Lead for the UK and Ireland, specializing in medical underwriting. In January 2023, Sarah became the Deputy Medical Director, further advancing their career in medical leadership. Additionally, they joined The MPS Foundation in May 2022 as a Board Member. Through their various roles, Sarah has gained extensive expertise in both clinical practice and medical legal matters.
Sarah Townley attended the University of Leeds from 1996 to 2001, where they earned a degree in Medicine (MBChB). In addition to their formal education, they obtained several certifications over the years. In July 2006, they received the MRCGP certification from the Royal College of General Practitioners. In May 2014, they obtained the DLM certification from the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine. Continuing their education, they obtained the MFFLM certification from the same faculty in May 2018. Sarah also holds several certifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Sarah obtained the LM1 certification in November 2020, the London Market Award in July 2021, and the LM2 certification in July 2021. Most recently, in March 2022, they obtained the LM3 certification and the CII Level 3 Certificate in London Medical Insurance, both from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
