Melissa Federman

Director, Office Of Opioid Safety at The MetroHealth System

Melissa Federman has a diverse and extensive work experience in the public health field. Melissa currently holds the position of Director, Office of Opioid Safety at The MetroHealth System since September 2022. Prior to that, they were an Evaluation and Learning Officer at The Nord Family Foundation from June 2021 to September 2022. From January 2020 to June 2021, Melissa worked as a Public Health Consultant under their own firm, Melissa T. Federman, LLC.

Before establishing their consultancy, Melissa held various positions at The Center for Community Solutions. Melissa served as the Treuhaft Chair for Health Planning from July 2014 to December 2019. Melissa also worked as the Director of the AIDS Funding Collaborative from November 2011 to December 2018. Prior to that, they held the role of Program Coordinator for the AIDS Funding Collaborative and Outreach Coordinator for Title X from January 2008 to November 2011.

In addition to their work at The Center for Community Solutions, Melissa has previous experience as a Health Promotion Consultant at Anthem from August 2006 to December 2007, and as a PRAMS Intern at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from June 2005 to September 2005. Melissa started their career as a Research Assistant at Children's National Health System from February 2000 to December 2003.

Melissa Federman holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Maternal & Child Health, Reproductive Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, completed in 2005. Melissa also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology and Art History from Colby College, completed between 1995 and 1999. Additionally, Melissa participated in a program on Oceanography and Nautical Science at the Sea Education Association in 1998.
