Baiba M. Ziemele holds significant leadership roles in various organizations advocating for individuals with bleeding disorders and broader patient rights in Latvia. As Chairwoman of the Board for the Latvia Hemophilia Society since December 2009, Ziemele collaborates with international bodies such as the European Hemophilia Consortium and World Federation of Hemophilia. Additionally, Ziemele serves on multiple committees within the World Federation of Hemophilia and the European Haemophilia Consortium, focusing on von Willebrand disease and women's health in relation to inherited bleeding disorders. Active involvement with the Latvijas Pacientu organizāciju tīkls as Board Chair and Coordinator demonstrates a commitment to unifying patient voices since 2018. Ziemele also contributes to Latvia's healthcare strategy through various council memberships and represents patient interests in the European Patients' Forum and EuroBloodNet. With an MBA from Riga Business School and a BS in Sociology from Rīga Stradiņš University, Ziemele's educational background supports a strong foundation in management and social advocacy.
