The MOFET Institute

A Center for the Research, Curriculum, and Program Development in Teacher Education. The MOFET Institute is a national intercollegiate center for the research and development of curricula and programs in teacher education and teaching in the colleges. It constitutes a unique framework both in Israel and worldwide for supporting teacher educators’ professional development. The Institute was founded by the Department of Teacher Education (Ministry of Education) in 1983. Fifteen years later, in 1998, it became a Ministry of Education-funded non-profit organization (NPO). The Institute was established due to the belief that Teacher Education is a profession containing its own unique components, hence, it was necessary to directly respond to the needs of this profession and create a system for the professional development of teacher educators. MOFET’s mission is to serve as a professional meeting-place and to facilitate an educational dialogue among colleagues both in the teacher education system and in other settings in the education system. Through our various activities, we aspire to raise the standard of education by improving teacher education and preparing teachers to face the most demanding challenges of a rapidly changing modern world.
