They are paid on fees related to your assets under management. And many of their so called wealth protection ideas are not an actual strategy but a one-off short-term quick, ad hoc fix, like bonds. They are a product, not a strategy.

But as we see in the bond market now, these quick fixes are anything but safe because by their very nature, they subject your money to enormous potential risk. How is that a safe money strategy? Are you really going to cling to the hope that your stocks will weather the imminent financial storm that the CEO of  J.P. Morgan just called an “economic hurricane?” 

Hoping and praying the stock market does not meltdown is not a safe money strategy. It is risky and unwise, especially if you are in or near retirement. 

If you have an advisor…or even a family member…telling you not to worry and stay the course…tell them… No! And remind them the billions of dollars people lost in 2008 from the market crash and recession with no safe money plan.
