The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is a district municipality in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. 

We are the third-largest rural municipality in Nova Scotia in terms of total property assessment and encompass a geographic area representing over 432,000 acres. Our municipality surrounds the towns of Bridgewater, Lunenburg, and Mahone Bay, which are incorporated separately and not part of the district municipality.

The Municipality is home to a population of over 24,863.

The Building and Inspection Services team at the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is responsible for ensuring all construction and renovation projects adhere to local building codes, safety regulations, and zoning laws. They conduct site inspections, review building plans, issue permits, and provide consultation on fire safety standards to maintain the integrity and safety of the built environment within the district.
