Dan Gardner has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Starting in 1992, they served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps, where they focused on the planning, development, and tactical employment of deployed Marine combat armed forces. After leaving the Marines in 1997, they became a Project Officer at Marine Corps Systems Command, leading the planning and management of all USMC medium and heavy anti-armor guided weapon system development and maintenance programs.
In 2000, Gardner joined Cisco, where they held various roles over the years. Dan started as a Product Manager for Optical Systems and later became a Program Manager for Cross Functional Initiatives. In the latter role, they led a major effort to address shortcomings in Cisco's third-party software management capabilities, resulting in significant cost savings for the company. Dan then served as a Senior Program Manager, overseeing multi-year investments in policy, organization, and training efforts across the enterprise. Subsequently, they became a Manager of Engineering Operations, responsible for leading cross-functional operations for Cisco's internal use of third-party software.
In 2012, Gardner was promoted to Senior Engineering Manager, where they created and implemented strategies and operations for Cisco's open innovation and third-party software management initiatives. Dan reduced legal clearance cycle time and achieved significant development cost avoidance. In 2014, they became the Head of Open Source Operations, responsible for policy, process, capabilities, measurement, and training for managing third-party software IP. Under their leadership, they achieved a 500% increase in software supply chain visibility, reduced legal clearance cycle time by over 90%, and significantly reduced annual development costs.
Most recently, Gardner co-founded The Mushroom Meat Co. in 2020, where they serve as the Co-Founder and COO.
Dan Gardner's education history begins in 1988 when they enrolled at the United States Naval Academy, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Oceanography. Dan completed their studies in 1992.
In 1998, they attended the Florida Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Management Information Systems, with a focus on General Management Information Systems. Dan concluded their studies in 1999.
Additionally, throughout their career, Dan obtained several certifications. In 2002, they earned the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. In 2017, they became a Master Trainer and Coach through Mindvalley and also obtained the Silva Ultramind Trainer certification.
Dan continued to expand their knowledge and skills by obtaining the Regenerative Cellular Detoxification Specialist certification from the International School of Regenerative Detoxification in 2018. Most recently, in 2019, they acquired the Quantum Reflex Analysis certification from Premier Research Labs.
