Daniel B. Shanes has served as Chief Judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court since 2007, overseeing the administration of a circuit court comprising 41 judges across various divisions. Daniel Shanes was appointed Circuit Court Judge in 2010 by the Illinois Supreme Court and received a "highly recommended" evaluation from the Lake County Bar Association. Additional roles include Presiding Judge for both the Felony and Misdemeanor/Traffic Divisions, Associate Judge, and faculty member at The National Judicial College, providing judicial education. Daniel Shanes has actively participated in the Illinois Judicial Conference, the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Pattern Jury Instructions, and the Illinois Judicial College Board of Trustees. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa.
