Judge Dan Ryan JD PhD (retired) is a distinguished legal professional with extensive experience in the judiciary and academia. As a certified civil mediator at MI-JADR PC since 2015, Dan provides private Alternative Dispute Resolution services. Dan has served as faculty at The National Judicial College since 1996 and held leadership roles, including Faculty Council Chair. Previous positions include Vice President of the Michigan Irish American Chamber of Commerce and Visiting Associate Professor of Law at The University of Toledo College of Law. Dan's judicial career includes serving as a judge on the 3rd Circuit Court and 17th District Court in Michigan. With dual expertise in academia and practical law, Dan has authored multiple publications and taught various law courses at several institutions, including Ave Maria School of Law and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Dan earned a PhD in Law and a Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Reno, in addition to earlier degrees in judicial studies and history.
