Bronwen Stanford

Lead River Scientist at The Nature Conservancy

Bronwen Stanford is a highly experienced environmental scientist with a strong focus on river ecology and restoration. Currently serving as the Lead River Scientist at The Nature Conservancy since May 2023, Stanford previously held positions as an Applied Ecologist at the San Francisco Estuary Institute and as a Senior Environmental Scientist at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, leading the Instream Flow Program. Stanford's research background includes a PhD in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where independent projects investigated the impacts of land use on restoration outcomes. Earlier experience includes conducting historical ecology research at the San Francisco Estuary Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Stanford University.
