The Nature Conservancy
John F. Helmer has extensive volunteer experience in conservation and community service, actively engaging with organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, McKenzie River Trust, and CASA of Lane County. As a volunteer and caretaker for The Nature Conservancy since 2010, John has contributed to organizing accessible tours and managing various natural sites. Recognized as the 2018 Oregon TNC Volunteer of the Year, John also serves in multiple roles, including tour guide, caretaker at Riddle Brothers Ranch National Historic District, and Safety Lead at the Egan Warming Center. Educational background includes a Master of Library Science from UCLA and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and Economics from UC San Diego, complemented by studies at Princeton University.
