Nels C Johnson is a seasoned conservation professional with extensive experience in renewable energy and ecological management. Currently serving as Senior Advisor and Renewable Energy Strategy Co-Lead at The Nature Conservancy since September 2001, Johnson is responsible for coordinating strategies to mitigate environmental impacts from energy development across North America. Additionally, Johnson holds the role of Deputy State Director for the Pennsylvania chapter of The Nature Conservancy, where responsibilities include implementing strategic priorities and developing partnerships. Previously, Johnson was involved with the World Resources Institute, where roles included Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Biological Resources Program, and co-management of significant biodiversity projects. Johnson has also served on the Board of Directors for the Pinchot Institute for Conservation, contributing to the advancement of forest conservation policy. Educational background includes a Master’s degree in Forest Ecology from Yale University and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Reed College.
