Michael Squires Fni

Michael Squires FNI is an experienced maritime professional with a career spanning several decades. Currently affiliated with the Company of Master Mariners of Australia as a member and serving as the Principal Safety Consultant at Squires Maritime Services since 2014, Michael is actively involved in projects both in Australia and internationally. With a background as a Fellow of The Nautical Institute and a long-standing member of the Australasian Marine Pilots Institute, Michael has a wealth of expertise in maritime safety. Previous roles include Seaman Officer in the Royal Australian Navy for over 35 years and Manager of National Safety Investigation Reforms at the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. Michael has also held positions as Ship Master and Ships Deck Officer, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of various vessel types. Educational achievements include qualifications in Nautical Science, Management, and Training and Assessment. Michael was recognized as the cadet of the year with the George McCleay Memorial Prize in 1976.
