Wil Portegijs is a senior researcher at The Netherlands Institute for Social Research/Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau since 2001. Previously, Portegijs held the position of policy officer for emancipation at Leiden University Medical Center from January 1999 to September 2001, providing advice on gender issues to the board. Between 1985 and 1999, Portegijs engaged in research focused on women's positions at universities, the challenges faced by female teachers balancing work and motherhood, and the reintegration of women into the labor market, also serving as an assistant researcher in the Department of Women's Studies. Wil Portegijs obtained a drs. degree in social psychology and women's studies from Leiden University, completing studies between 1979 and 1988.
