Emily Albarillo is the current Associate Managing Editor at The New Press. Emily has previous experience working as the Director of Managing Editorial at Abrams from May 2013 to January 2016. In this role, they were responsible for leading the adult managing editorial group and providing project management for a wide variety of illustrated book projects. Additionally, they hired freelancers, liaised with authors, and ensured titles stayed on track with publication schedules. Emily's focus was on craft books, cooking books, and translations of foreign-language titles. Prior to their time at Abrams, Emily worked as a Video Cataloger at WNET.ORG from June 2011 to August 2011, where they assisted with a short-term project to catalog videos in WNET's archive. Emily followed established metadata standards to record detailed information about videos, based on physical tapes and information stored in databases. Emily also worked as a Rights Assistant at HarperCollins Publishers from January 2011 to December 2012. In their most recent role as Digital Media Specialist at the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Sinclair Library, they served September 2008 to December 2011.

Emily Albarillo has a MA in Linguistics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a BA in Linguistics and Russian from Seattle Pacific University.
