Douglas D. Durst

Trustee at The New School

Mr. Durst is the chairman of the Durst Organization, one of Manhattan’s top real estate development companies and a leader in developing environmentally friendly buildings. Mr. Durst is also a noted philanthropist and serves on the boards of several New York City organizations, including the Trust for Public Land and the Roundabout Theater Company. He is a director of the Real Estate Board of New York and a trustee of The Old York Foundation, which is committed to helping people understand the history of and issues facing New York City. Mr. Durst carries on his family’s long tradition of involvement with The New School—his grandmother Rose Friedwald Durst was an art student at The New School, and his grandfather Joseph and father, Seymour, were both contributors and volunteers.
