Asia J. Norton

Asia J. Norton is a board member at Newark Public Schools. Norton previously served as a civil justice clinic fellow at Rutgers Law School from August 2021 to June 2022. Prior to that, they interned at the Office of the Public Defenders from June 2021 to August 2021.

Norton also worked as a literacy coach at Children's Literacy Initiative from September 2019 to January 2022. From August 2018 to July 2019, they were a community engagement specialist at Marion P. Thomas Charter School. Asia also worked at Newark Public Schools and KIPP New Jersey as a kindergarten lead teacher from November 2015 to June 2018 and from August 2012 to October 2015, respectively.

Additionally, Norton served as a program assistant at AmeriCorps VISTA from August 2010 to August 2011.

Asia J. Norton is a candidate for a Juris Doctorate at Rutgers Law School. Asia has a Master of Arts in Sociology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and is certified to teach elementary school from the Relay Graduate School of Education. Her Bachelor of Arts is in Africana Studies from Simmons University.
