Amy Owenby

Amy Owenby, SPHR, serves as the Chief of Staff and Director of Human Resources at The North Carolina Arboretum since October 2015, overseeing multiple departments including Human Resources, Communications & Marketing, and Volunteers. With a track record of increasing seasonal and temporary employment by 50 percent, Owenby has reimagined volunteer programs post-pandemic and led promotional strategies to enhance community engagement. Past experience includes roles as an Adjunct Professor of Human Resources at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Benefits and Payroll Specialist at UNCA, Recruiter and HR generalist at Eliada Homes Inc., and Office Manager at Patla Straus Robinson & Moore PA. Owenby holds a Master of Public Administration from Western Carolina University and a Certificate in Equitable Leadership from Lenoir-Rhyne University, among other qualifications.
