Liesbeth Velema is an expert in nutrition and behaviour, currently serving as Project Leader for both Eetomgevingen and Voedselverspilling at the Netherlands Nutrition Centre since October 2017, focusing on food waste prevention among consumers. Prior experience includes roles as a Junior Researcher and PhD student at VU University Amsterdam, where Liesbeth engaged in research on healthy worksite cafeterias, as well as an Epidemiologist analyzing youth health status at Veiligheids- en Gezondheidsregio Gelderland-Midden. Earlier positions involved systematic literature searches on healthy eating determinants and research on portion control interventions at VU University Amsterdam, alongside contributions to health promotion at Big Move Institute and the development of a construction code of conduct with Bewuste Bouwers. Liesbeth holds a PhD in Health Sciences and multiple degrees from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and University of Groningen.
