Josie Zayner is the Founder and CEO of The ODIN, a pioneering consumer genetic engineering company, since January 2014. Prior to this, Zayner served as a Research Fellow at NASA Ames Research Center, contributing to synthetic biology initiatives focused on engineering bacteria for environmental applications. Zayner's artistic endeavors include roles as Artist in Residence at Stochastic Labs and Imagine Science Films, exploring the intersection of art and technology. Earlier experience includes computer security analysis at Southern Illinois University, phlebotomy and lab technician work at Edward Hospital, and network engineering at Motorola. Zayner holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Chicago, a Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Appalachian State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Plant Biology from Southern Illinois University.
