Robbie McDonald is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in wildlife conservation and environmental research. Currently serving as the Chief Scientist and Chief Insights Officer at the Office for Environmental Protection since September 2022, McDonald oversees evidence, analysis, and the science profession for this public body. In addition, McDonald has been the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Vincent Wildlife Trust since December 2017, guiding strategic initiatives for mammal conservation. Academically affiliated as an Honorary Professor at the University of Exeter since 2011, McDonald has also held significant roles at various institutions, including Deputy Chief Scientist at the Food and Environment Research Agency and Head of Wildlife Ecology at the Central Science Laboratory. Robbie McDonald holds a PhD in Animal Ecology and has contributed to the field through a wide range of research and leadership positions over a career spanning several decades.
