Nicky Thomas is a highly experienced individual working in the field of education and physics. With a background in engineering and accounting, Nicky has transitioned into teaching and educational material writing. Currently, Nicky works as a Teaching and Learning Coach at The Ogden Trust, alongside being a Teacher of Physics at Arrow Vale Academy. Nicky's passion for physics education is evident through their work as an Author of physics educational materials and roles at various educational institutions. Additionally, Nicky has presented at training sessions and provided workshops and support for physics teachers. With a strong educational background including a BA in Physics from the University of Oxford, Nicky continues to inspire students and teachers alike in the field of physics.
The Ogden Trust
Established by Sir Peter Ogden in 1999, we are a charitable trust that exists to promote the teaching and learning of physics. We do this by enabling innovative physics teaching to take place in, and collaboratively between, schools, often forging links to universities. We also address the shortage of physics teachers in the UK by funding programmes that encourage young graduates to go into teaching. Our Mission The Ogden Trust aims to increase the uptake of physics for all at post-16, particularly for those from under-represented groups, through: • Supporting physics teaching; and • Supporting students to develop physics identity. The priority audiences for the Trust include teachers without a physics background, teachers and students in remote rural areas or in areas of social deprivation and students on Free School Meals.
