Michael Karnes

Michael Karnes is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in both academic and industry settings. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer at Ubihere since September 2021, Michael has previously held various engineering roles, including Chief Software Engineer and Principal Software Engineer. At The Ohio State University, Michael is pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on photogrammetric computer vision, while also contributing as a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant. Key research includes developing algorithms for scene understanding and a spectral impedance imaging device for surgical applications. Michael's background includes internships at the Air Force Research Laboratory and Ethicon, Inc., along with undergraduate research at Miami University. An active leader in the engineering community, Michael has held multiple positions within ASME, enhancing student engagement and project development.
