PHD Candidate/ Graduate Research Assistant at University of Guelph

Mylene Corzo-Lopez is currently a PhD candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Guelph, focusing on a Doctoral study in the Plant Agriculture program, which addresses agri-food challenges through the investigation of molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways related to bacterial blight disease in common bean genotypes using Next Generation Sequencing techniques. Previously, Mylene served as a Volunteer Research Assistant at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical "Pedro Kourí," where real-time PCR testing for Sars-Cov-2 virus samples was performed. Mylene's background also includes extensive experience as a Plant Pathology Researcher at the National Center for Animal and Plant Health, specializing in molecular biology, integrated pest management, and the diagnosis of various plant pathogenic bacteria. Mylene holds a Master of Science in Microbiology from the University of Havana and a Bachelor of Science in Honours Microbiology from the same institution.
